News from 1004 & 2005

We at Silverthree would like to wish you and those that you love the happiest of Holiday seasons. This winter’s first snow is upon us here in the East and it’s making spirits bright. Cyn decorated the mantle. It feels right. Cheers!
As I type, Retisonic is tucked away in a NY City recording studio with engineer Ian Love of Cardia fame putting the finishing touches on their full-length follow up to the fabulous Lean Beat EP. Silverthree, friends, and fans got to see the band rip through a set of the new tunes a week or so ago at DC’s Black Cat. The boys cooked. They always bring it live. We had great fun and the new songs impressed. Now we await the new recordings with bated breath. All will have the opportunity to hear the fruits of Retisonic’s love and labour on March 30th, 2004 when this yet to be titled, sure to be excellent, full-length debut finds it’s way to record stores everywhere. Or you can find it here. We’ll have it available for preorder on the AgIII merchandise page very soon (Jody is cooking up some stir fry right this sec).
There is some big news on the horizon. We must remain a bit secretive until a bit of this and that shakes out. But, any day now, we hope to announce to you a new addition to the Silverthree stable. I’ll tell you this for now—they are great people and an amazing band that many of you may already know and love. We’re super psyched to welcome them to the Silverthree family.
Soon. Until then, stay sweet.

It’s lunar eclipse Saturday. A celestial sensation, an astronomical celebration, will shake out just moments from now. I’m excited. So turn your gaze skyward. Now keep it there!
Silverthree’s New York City CMJ Music marathon experience was utterly fantastic. It was Rock n’Roll morning, noontime, and night. I slept for nearly a week upon our return. It’s true. A big thank you to all of our friends and all the music fans that came out to our showcase event. And to our bands, the biggest thank you of all. You played it with passion and poise. That’s what it’s all about.
Retisonic, the hardest working and hardest rocking band in the biz, are returning to the road this month. Tour dates are up on our tour page. Note the DC date- November 22nd at the Black Cat. Also, Cardia will join Retisonic on 10/23 at the Mercury Lounge in NYC. I am addicted to the sound of the latest demos that Jason, Joe, and Jim have put to tape. Get out and hear their new music now.
Happiness.

Ok. Here it is, the official word on our label showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon 2003 in New York City. Note the venue change.
The shindig will now shake out at the ultra hip (so friends say) Lit Lounge located at 93 2nd Avenue. The bands and all of us here at the label could not be more excited about this showcase. Please join us Wednesday night, October 22nd. It all starts at 8pm, when Panic In Detroit take to the stage. Next up it’s Kimone at 8:45pm, and then Cardia at 9:30pm. The Silverthree contingent will be followed by Imaginary Baseball League at 10:15pm, and our very good friends Come Down at 11pm. It will be a night of superior rock! Come share in the fun with us.
The very next night, we’ll be at the Tribeca at 16 Warren Street, where Retisonic will be rocking everyone in the house. They go on at 9:30pm. We really hope to see you!
Also, check out what the guys in Hey Mercedes had to say about Panic In Detroit in a recent interview at Delusions of Adequacy. Very cool.
Be groovy.

This fantastic news is as new to you as is it to us. So, line-ups and set times are yet to be determined. Whew. We at Silverthree are back from holiday feelin’ fine and refreshed. We’re all tan beasts I will tell you. Great fun! The rock never stopped while we were away. Here’s what’s shakin’…
The nice people at MP3.com are featuring Retisonic on their homepage this week. Click here quickly- http://www.mp3.com. At the site, you can download mp3s of three new Retisonic tunes in their entirety. Here’s the direct link to the bands feature page at the site- http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/625/retisonic.html. The feature had 512 hits in its first day of posting. Our goal for the week is one billion hits. So, go tell your friends.
Cardia is currently playing shows throughout the UK to celebrate the release of their Silverthree debut in that great country. Dates include the massive Reading and Leeds festivals plus several sold out shows with Saves the Day. Cardia’s buzz is already big with the Brits, and they’re looking to add on the exclamation points. MTV UK will be helping the cause. They’ll be interviewing Ian for broadcast and spinning the bands video for “Last Forever”. Dig that.
Panic In Detroit is also reporting great success from the road. They and the crew from Minus the Bear have shared much mutual admiration in their weeks together, and the shows have been fantastic. As that tour comes to it’s close, The Panic crew readies themselves for their next jaunt, which will take them out to the west coast. Dates and times are now being finalized. So, check back soon and click our tour page for the details.
This just in from Mr. Tim Den of Kimone-
"Hey guys,
We're demoing a whole bunch of new stuff right now... can't tell you how psyched I am about the new songs. They sound REALLY good, if I do say so myself.”
I believe him and can’t wait to hear the music. Kimone are thinking that late January/February 2004 will have them back in the studio for serious recording time.
Music makes the world go ‘round.
Peace and Love.

This note should have come so much sooner….ugh…
Independence day saw the Silverthree Collective in NYC basking in the rockets' red glare Brooklyn rooftop style. We were in the fine company of Cardia’s Ian Love, Retsonic’s Jason Farrell, and friends new and old. It was fantastic. Even more fantastic was the Cardia / Retisonic / Jets to Brazil show at the Bowery Ballroom the night that followed.

Here are some glamour shots from the gig. Cyn's friend Nathan took the pics and you can find many more here. Our thanks to Nathan. Also, thank you to all of our NYC friends for their hospitalities.
The Bowery show was the closer on Retisonic's national tour. Not ones to rest, the boys are already back in the studio recording demos for their follow up to the "Lean Beat" EP. They have a few new songs posted on their website already. Ian Love was at the knobs for these three gems and they sound really sweet. Check 'em out.
Once again, the good people at Tower.com have proven their love for independent music and their excellent taste by selecting Cardia as one of their Artists of the Month for July. The feature includes a cool interview piece where Ian finally reveals the ingredients of his secret elixir. You don’t want to miss it. Cardia is currently out west in the midst of their US tour in support of Year of the Rabbit. Get out and see these shows.
Panic In Detroit will be touring in support of Minus the Bear come mid-August.
Here's a peek at the dates confirmed thus far:
8/16 Orlando, FL The Social
8/18 Lafayette, LA St. Lamar St. Pirate House
8/19 Houston, TX Fat Cats
8/20 Austin, TX Emo's
8/21 Dallas, TX Gypsy Tea Room
8/22 Oklahoma City Green Door
8/23 St. Louis, MO Rocketbar
8/24 Kansas City, MO The Brick
Check the tour page for venue information and more updates.
Kimone comes to our town, playing the Galaxy Hut in Arlington, VA on August 9th. This will be one of just a handful of shows Kimone will be playing the rest of 2003. They are turning all of their attentions to the writing and recording of their follow up to "Meres of Twilight". Silverthree will be there and we hope to see you.
p.s. take a look at what Harbin's been up to!

06.26.03
Hey y’all. Here’s the good going on…..
Any band will tell you, a good booking agent is essential to their happiness and prosperity. Cardia now has the great fortune to be working with one of the best, Little Big Man (Coldplay, Sigur Ros, etc.) This relationship is already bearing fruit. Come mid-July, Cardia will head out on a three-week stint in support of Year of the Rabbit, a new band on Elektra records featuring Ken Andrews (Failure), Jeff Garber (National Skyline), and Tim Dow (Shiner). Harbin and I got to hang a bit with the Year of the Rabbit a few weeks back when they played nightclub 9:30 supporting Pete Yorn. Good fun. The Rabbits took the stage and rocked me. These will be great shows. Check the tour page regularly and hope that this tour rolls through a town near you.
Our town plays host to Retisonic and Jets to Brazil this Friday night at the Black Cat. This is the last touring week of six, as Retisonic finishes up a successful romp across these United States. Silverthree will be there Friday night and we’ll also make the final show of the tour at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom where Cardia joins the fun. That’s July five. The fireworks continued.
Panic In Detroit is currently working to confirm show dates for August and beyond. It looks like a few shows with Minus the Bear will be in the mix. Keep an eye to our tour page for updates.
Now, get out and dig the sunshine. Palms up.
Back soon.

It’s been a long time since we Rock N’ Rolled. (I’m lovin’ that new Zep set.) Sorry to have been out of touch for such a time. I blame the rain.
Officially, this Tuesday, June 10, is the release date for the highly anticipated debut recording from Cardia. Yes, it’s a couple of weeks late, but well worth the wait. Get it here or get it anywhere. Just make sure that you get it. You will not be disappointed. Dig what CMJ has to say- "...an album of glistening cerebral rock, distinguished by mature songwriting, powerful execution and a bright, uplifting tone." They even drop the line “celestial rock-outs” into their descriptive mix. I love that.
And I love this…. Harbin and I will be heading to Rex’s Bar in West Chester, PA this Saturday night to enjoy a two Silverthree band bill with Kimone warming for Cardia. That’s a match made after my heart.
Silverthree bands are everywhere this month of June.
Retisonic is on the road. They are a week into their six-week run across the USA. Most likely, they will be in your vicinity soon. See them. Also, see a great interview with Jason in the pages of Copper Press #11 out now. And if you want to see Joe blush, tell him you saw him in the latest issue of Modern Drummer.
Panic In Detroit is revving up for their summer tour playing shows in their native Texas and surrounding areas. Last week they had the good fortune to play a few shows with The Life and Times, a band featuring Allen Epley of Shiner and John Meredith of Someday I. There is a combo that is my cup of tea. Look for the Life and Times debut EP on 54¼40' or Fight! due out soon.
When you get out to see these bands, stop by their merchandise booths and buy lots of their stuff. Just say hello and you should be able to get a Silverthee Sampler CD gratis. That’s five stellar tracks for a smile. All of the bands should be sporting them at various points during their travels. Seek’em out.
The sun is out. I’ve got to catch it while I can.
Next time will be sooner. I’m sure.

Hello Music Lovers,
First off, here is a big thank you to all of those who took the time to stop by the Silverthree table at the MacRock extravaganza. Honestly, I think we were a bit overwhelmed by the turnout at this shindig. Special thanks to those who waited out Harbin as he furiously cut down the print for our remaining samplers just in time for your procurement and enjoyment. Madness. We gave out 300 samplers at this gig and probably could have given out another 300 had we known the scope of what we were getting into. Next year, we'll be a bit better prepared I’m sure.
Cardia is playing a handful of dates in support of Thursday in the coming weeks. I’ll be making the shows at Baltimore's Ottobar and State College's Crowbar. You should make a show or two, too. Check the Silverthree tour page for complete show listings.
The Retisonic National Tour will run from 5/27 - 7/5. Seventeen of the dates are with Jets to Brazil, 5-27-5/31, and 6/24 - 7/5. Venues are still being finalized. We'll update our tour page as soon as details become available. New Retisonic interviews appear in the latest issues of Thrasher, 'Sup, and Jersey Beat.
Check out the Kimone interview at www.wintermittens.com. This is such a cool site - props to that crew. Kimone will be playing a couple dates with Cardia in NY and Boston come May's end and early June. I dig that inter-label Love. The Silverthree crew will be heading to both big cities to be a part of it. Hope to see you there.
Peace.

"Lay down in a corpse pose, you deserve it". That’s the kind of line that keeps me coming back to the Yoga Zone. On with the news…
Silverthree Sound Recordings is pleased to announce the release of the debut recording from Cardia slated for May 6th, 2003.
New York City’s Cardia reveals and invokes the romance, vastness, and lush aspects of pop music. Self-recorded and self-produced, this eponymous debut resonates with a passion for song craftsmanship. Ian Love (Rival Schools), St. John Scott IV (Shudder To Think), Andy Action (2 Skinee J's, Speedball Baby), and Brad Vanderark (The Verve Pipe) make up a quartet of diverse and experienced musicians moving forward into a new musical realm. Cardia seamlessly merges analog depth and studio prowess, combining textured ambient guitars with a driving rhythm section to lay the backdrop for Ian Love's rich soaring vocals. The result is a superbly crafted and original work that demands repeated listening.
We love this record and feel privileged to bring it to you.
Standstill "Memories Collector" available to you this Tuesday, March 18! Get it here or request it at your local record shop/site.
For music lovers in the DC vicinity - Kimone will grace the stage of the Black Cat on Friday, March 21st. Drone masters Tone will be on hand to perform as well. Both will be in support of Phaser, who recently released a very cool record on Emperor Norton. This will be a good time. Come out and see it. The Tower.com Artist of the Month feature on Kimone is up at their site. It is really nice. Cheers to Tower. Have a look.
Retisonic rocked me once again. Harbin and I had the good fortune to catch the closing night of their tour at Baltimore's Ottobar. These guys play with such style and substance. It’s great to hear and to see. They are scheduled to play the Skate & Surf Festival in Asbury Park at April's end and will return to the road very soon. Keep an eye on the Silverthree tour date listings.
Panic In Detroit are back home in Texas after shredding their way across parts of the US and Canada in support of Hey Mercedes. They report that the tour was great fun and a great success. The band is totally inspired and excited by the great reception they received and are itching to get back to the road. We witnessed Panic In Detroit's passionate performance at DC's Black Cat a few weeks back. Dubbed as a warm-up show for the Hey Mercedes trip, Panic came more than ready to rock. We were blown away. A big thank you to all of Silverthree's friends who made it out for the show. We love you.
More soon.

Hi everyone,
We hope everyone is just feeling fine. It's a mid-February, snow covered and cold, high-terror alert Sunday afternoon in suburban D.C. Fortunately, I find myself in the warm confines of the Silverthree bunker/offices, listening to records - in fact a very nice record 'Subterranean Modern' from the Dining Rooms - typing up this edition of the news. Here's what's shaking:
"Panic In Detroit" should be making its way on to finer music store shelves everywhere and anywhere you are right now. If you are not finding it in your neck of the wood, politely suggest to the retail music experts at your favorite shop, and all other music shops you shop for that matter, to get a clue and ensure that he/she procures Panic In Detroit and all the other fine Silverthree Sound Recordings releases for you too. Panic In Detroit made an impressive debut at college radio being the #7 most added item and landing at a highly respectable #78 on the CMJ charts in its first week, the highest debut by a Silverthree artist thus far and is up to #62 in week 2. Not more than a few moments after receiving the great news from radio, MTV came a callin' to request the use of "We Own Everything," "Whatever, Whatever," and "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" for use on their television production entitled "Sorority Life." We're not sure what that shows all about, but we are sure it just got better. Panic In Detroit rocks our city, joining forces with Lovitt Records recording artist Bats and Mice and the Cassettes on Thursday, February 20th at D.C.'s Black Cat before hitting the road for a couple of weeks in support of Hey Mercedes. We can't wait!
The official release date for Standstill "Memories Collector" has been determined to be March 18th 2003. It can't come soon enough. We just mailed this gem off to press and radio for comment and critique. Keep an eye and ear out to find out what Standstill is all about. Here's our take -"...this record secedes sonically with anything done in the international post-hardcore scene. Fusing hardcore rage with the beauty of instrumental landscapes, using samplers and keyboards with dexterity, and with the addition of trumpets, vibraphones, and upright bass, 'Memories Collector' trespasses the frontiers of the genre." Get ready.

Hello and happy New Year from Silverthree!
Thanks for checking out our site and this, the inaugural issue of the "News". We hope to make this a regular script to keep you in touch and tune with all the happenings here at Silverthree. And so much is happening...
We are pleased to announce our first release of 2003. The self-titled debut EP from Panic In Detroit hits the streets February four and is available now at this site. We have received such a great response from those who have been privy to hear this record. It is just amazing. J. Robbins, friend of Silverthree, producer of this record, and a man of few words says - these guys are great. Believe him. Celebrate this release with Panic In Detroit at Mary Jane's in Houston, Texas on February 8th. The release party will include sets by Casket Lottery & Airliner. Then, Panic In Detroit will be supporting Hey Mercedes on the East/Midwest leg of their national tour. Check the dates and go check them out. And for the fashionably inclined, look for Panic In Detroit to be featured on the Abercrombie & Fitch website.
Kimone is fresh back from their full-on US tour. They are currently gigging about the New England area where they just played a sold-out show in support of Cursive at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. This week they open for Wheat at TT the Bears (check the tour page for the details and other gigs). We are tickled pink to report that the good people at Towerrecords.com have selected Kimone as an "Artist of the Month" for March. We could not be more excited. Be sure to check out the Tower site and celebrate their good taste. Also, Kimone has music featured in a documentary film about women in aviation entitled "Above and Beyond" being produced by ArtReach International. The film premieres March 10th at Arlington National Cemetery and will be touring the country. Go to ArtReach for more about the film.
Retisonic just returned from a set of dates sharing the stage with Pilot to Gunner. The tour included a triumphant return to DC for Jason Farrell. A few hundred curious DC fans, as well as the Silverthree crew, turned out to see the latest offering from the former Bluetip front man and could not have been disappointed. Retisonic truly rocked. You need to see these boys play it live and you will have your chance. They play Wednesday, 2/12 with Hot Rod Circuit & the Reunion Show at Maxwell's in Hoboken before kicking off a few week tour with Brazil & Breaking Pangea in Pittsburgh, PA (PA pride!) 2/27 at Mr. Roboto Project. Shortly after the Brazil/Breaking Pangea dates, they'll be embarking on a full figure-8 stint (--copped Harbin road lingo) including a stop at SXSW. Also good news - Retisonic just landed a new booking agent, Kenmore Agency, and some heavyweight management, Mean It!, to help them and us spread their sounds to more and more of you. The music deserves it.
Coming soon - we will have the domestic release of Standstill "Memories Collector". Already stalwarts in their native European scene, Standstill is poised to take to our shores this Spring in support of their Silverthree debut.
Also, we've got something in the works that we are very psyched about for later in 2003. We are keeping it under wraps for now, but check back here for more info soon.
Groovy.
