News from 2006

12.20.05

Now that’s one tight rhythm section.

Mock Orange has returned home from their winning tour of Japan!

Now they rest.  However, their slumber will be a sweet and a short one, as February will see the Boys set out on a month long European tour.  Check our tour tour page for details and developments.

Come celebrate the Solstice with Silverthree this Wednesday night, December 21st at the Galaxy Hut in Arlington VA.  Drink and be merry while listening to the chaotic sounds of our genre bending DJ collective Ginger Moneypussy’s Box of Gold featuring Piedmont.  Sweet Charity Bangs, Amber Headlights, Fussy Updo, and all of the Family Jewels will be on hand.  Come share in the festive fun!

Happy Everyday.

Our Mock Orange boys are on their way to Japan. How cool is that? I'm more than a bit jealous. I am fascinated with the culture of that country. I would love to visit there some day. To go there with guitars has to feel great.

MO is featured in the current issue of Copper Press available at newsstands now. Check it out.

There is also a nice piece with Kimone in this month's Amplifier.

It's good to see the bands makin' the presses.

Hi friends. Silverthree has recently joined Myspace. Click here and become our friend and a friend to our friends.

DC’s Soft Complex is finishing up a remix or two for their forthcoming debut EP for Silverthree. We’re anticipating you will see its release in early 2006. Those of you in the vicinity of DC this weekend can see Soft Complex Saturday, August 20th at DC9. They headline the bill, which also features another band we dig, Richmond’sDelegate. Good times.

Mock Orange is heading back to Japan this November. They will be touring with their Japanese brethren The Band Apart and America's own +/-. Dates will be posted soon. Then, come February, MO will embark on their first ever European tour. February 2nd will find them in Luxembourg at Kulturfabrik. Sounds cool. We’ll post the tour details when we know them.

The band is also working to secure some US dates for October. Fingers crossed.

Peace.

Few things are as beautiful as a Dogwood in bloom.

A belated “Happy Arbor Day” from Silverthree to you and to yours. I love holidays and Arbor Day is a definite favorite of mine. I like trees. We’re on the eve of Mother’s Day weekend, another holiday to hold dear. To Mom- I love you and I’ll be home tomorrow.

This coming Tuesday will see the release of Kimone’s beautiful new album, “The Mill”. We could not be more excited. We hope you’re excited too. Rush to your favorite record shop or site and get your copy of what will surely be one of finest releases of 2005.

Kimone will be doing a few record release shows, three on the West Coast and three in the East, as a warm up to their full US tour scheduled for a bit later in the summer. Check out our tour page for updates.

Cool show alert for those living in the Bloomington, IN area. Mock Orange will be playing with Rogue Wave and the Helios Sequence come June 12th @ Bluebird. MO is home in Indiana playing occasional stellar one off shows and working on new music that will become the follow up to the critically acclaimed “Mind Is Not Brain”. They are also planning on getting back to the road soon to show off some of the new tunes. Be ready.

More a little later.

True. Addition and addendum to our lil’ Silverthree web page are long overdue. (Cyn bought me a book on writers block. Subtle.) My apologies.

We have revised the release date for Kimone “The Mill”. May 10, 2005 is our new target. The release will be just in time for Kimone to take to the road. Tour dates are being finalized now and we’ll post those soon.

It looks like we’ll be traveling to Macrock to take in the shows and to shuffle some Silverthree swag at the label expo. Those who stopped by our corner of the event last year were treated to CD samplers, buttons, bazooka gum, and a chance to win a million dollars. Hmmm, what will we do to top that this year? If you’re in the room, come see.

More soon.

Peace.

I’ve got a grin so wide it hurts.

Mock Orange fans be proud!  Your love, your support, and your votes have pushed Mock Orange into the finals of “MTV2’s Dew Circuit Breakout”.  MO will now play live on MTV2, Saturday, December 4th at 6pm EST with two other finalists and, once again, your votes will decide the outcome.  So, start flexing your votin’ fingers and check back here for more details.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Vote MO America.

I wish a happy Autumn to you all. I just love the Fall. This beautiful September night finds Juniper and I lounging on the deck, chilling to Coltrane and a chorus of crickets. And it sounds to me as though the two have jammed together before. It’s real nice. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find this evening’s “remix” on Apple iTunes. However, you will find all of Silverthree’s releases there. That’s right, for those of you who like to do it digitally, you can now sample, purchase, and download all of our fine releases at the iTunes store. Soon, Silverthree releases will be popping up on a myriad of digital retail sites. Thanks to our partners at Lumberjack Distribution for making it happen.

This Saturday, September 25, Silverthree presents Channels with The Forms and Soft Complex at the Warehouse Next Door in Washington, DC. All those in and about this nation’s capitol, please come out and join us for a night of great music.

You’ll find a very interesting interview with Channels’ J.Robbins at Transformonline.com, a new online magazine recently launched by Lollipop editor and Kimone tunesmith Tim Den. There’s also a great piece on our Mock Orange there. Dig them.

Mock Orange has added some new October tour dates, playing in the northeastern US with The Beautiful Mistake.  November will find them touring Japan supporting the release of “Mind Is Not Brain” in that great country.

Kimone has titled their forthcoming sophomore release “The Mill”.  We received the masters a week or so back and this record sounds beautiful. We’re very excited to bring it to you.

More soon….

E.

08.28.04

I hope this note finds everyone feeling groovy, Silverthree certainly is.  Having recently returned from holiday, we are all well tanned and mellowed. Vacation is a very, very good thing - very good.

Also very good - this lil’ giveaway we’re doin’ with Amp Magazine. You can enter to win a Retisonic skate deck (dig the picture) divinely decorated and distinctively dressed by Jason Farrell. Check it in Amp Magazine, issue number 10, August/September 2004 on newsstands now.

The latest issue of Alternative Press says this of Mock Orange Mind Is Not Brain - “Perfect albums don’t come along often, but MINB is the closest to the mark we’ve heard in a while.”  Believe them because it’s true.  MINB just keeps getting better with each listen. Really. Even Entertainment Weekly took the time to give a nod to MINB calling it “kinetic” and “tuneful.” Now, we’re not sure exactly what that means, but we were ecstatic to know that the MO will see a bit of love in supermarket check-out lines all across the US of A. They deserve it.

The new Kimone record is nearing completion. Mr. Robbins is taking a little extra time to tinker and tweak her, but we’re sure to have the final mixes soon. The roughs sound spectacular. If anyone can make them sound that sweet bit better, it’s J. We hope to have this one to you in February.

Ride a painted pony.

08.02.04

All right everybody, from what I hear the National Security Council has just placed the nation on Mock Orange alert!  Yes, we have finally arrived on the eve of the US release of Mock Orange “Mind Is Not Brain”.  It’s taken a great deal of patience and hard work from so many people to ensure this record would reach the street.  Everyone of which will tell you it was time spent well worth the while.

We at Silverthree have such enormous respect for Mock Orange, their music, and their fans.  We could not be more excited about doing our part in bringing “Mind Is Not Brain” to you.

Cheers.

E.

07.12.04

Don’t shoot the messenger.

Tonight was to be the eve of the retail release of Mock Orange “Mind Is Not Brain”. Due to some issues at our pressing plant, the street date has been moved to August 3rd. We apologize for the delay. The good news is that you can get it on our merch page now. It will ship immediately. And to those that preordered, worry not. Your discs are already enroute.

Good news. Cardia will be playing DC’s renowned 9:30 club with The Delays this Friday night, July 16th. We’re very excited to see and hear Cardia as they grace the stage of one of the US’s finest music venues.

Short & Sweet.

06.08.04

The old adage “you are what you eat” is proven untrue. For if it were, my pup Juniper would be a big, black, red-eyed, winged bug by now and I a pint of Wildgoose.
Summer days spent, VA, 2004.

Before we get on to the news- a big thanks to Jody, our talented and beautiful Diva of Design, for putting such an elegant new face on our lil’ slice of cyberspace. This “new-look” site is dynamite. We hope you agree.

Another “thank you” goes out to all of you who lent their support to Retisonic on their recently completed US tour.  Never ones to rest, Retisonic are back on the road, already seven days into a thirty-one day, thirty show tour throughout the UK and Europe. That’s a pretty grueling run and a testament to the passion these guys have for bringing you the rock. If you’ve seen their live show, you already know that passion. Pick up their new CD “Return to Me” now.

Mock OrangeMock Orange comes to our town, next Tuesday, June 15th with The Honorary Title and Sunday Driver.  It’s the next showcase in our series of “Silverthree Presents” events at the Warehouse Next Door in Washington DC.  MO will spend all of June and a big chunk of July on the road, readying fans for the release of their Silverthree debut, “Mind Is Not Brain”.  Get out and see them in your neck o’ the wood. We’re super excited for the DC date and hope to see many of you there.

Thanks to those who came out to the Warehouse a week ago to see Kimone, Paul Michel, and Two If By Sea. All the bands played magnificently, the audience was great, and it was such a fine show. The new Kimone music is really fantastic. We hope you enjoyed it.

Panic In Detroit play tomorrow in Austin, TX with Duvall. This, the first in a week of shows the two will play together. The last week in July will see Panic hopping on the Braid reunion tour. All the Braid/Panic dates will include Moneen, some with Recover, and others with Murder By Death. Between jaunts, the band will be putting the finishing touches on demo recordings of their latest works. We hope so. We’re very excited to hear what they’re up to.

Life is good.

E.

Brood X has arrived.

05.03.04

As all should be well aware, Retisonic's “Return To Me” is now available at retail sites and stores everywhere. So bop to you’re favorite record shop and get your copy today.

Tower Records is a perfect place to pick up the disc. The great people at Tower.com will be featuring Retisonic as one of their “Artists of the Month” for May. The feature goes live May 5 and will include a tasty little interview with the band. Be sure to check it out. Also, several Tower stores will have “Return To Me” on sale and in their indie listening stations this month. A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the Tower family for their tremendous support of Silverthree and all independent music.

The press is starting to chat the Retisonic boys up and their response to “Return To Me” has been overwhelmingly positive. Amplifier Magazine has it down- “Retisonic’s unbeatable combination of shimmering pop and shuddering punk makes an irresistible and potent sonic cocktail”. Well. I’ll drink to that.

Retisonic ‘s tour kicks off tonight, in Louisville, KY at the Kenswick Democratic Club with Hot Cross and Licketysplit. They will spend the entire month of May on the road, rockin’ from town to town, with a whole host of great bands. Check their routing here and get out to a show near you.

Go to the Retisonic site now and see the complete video for “K-16”. Click the video splash on the homepage and enjoy. It looks and sounds splendid. Set your speed dials to TRL.

Mock Orange is also in on the heavy touring and video-making tip. MO have a slew o’ shows slated to support their upcoming Silverthree release “Mind Is Not Brain” available July 13th. They’ll be touring proper with Doghouse recording artist Sunday Driver in June. They hop off that tour mid-month for a week plus of shows supporting the newly reunited Braid. The Braid/Mock Orange bill will also include Murder By Death and Minus the Bear. That’s one great line up. Don’t miss it.

While the MO are hard at work on the road, artists and friends Kevin Titzer and David Hobizal will be hard at work on two separate music video’s for the band. Kevin will be doing an animated video for the track “Can’t Seem To Think” that will feature his unique and amazing original artwork. Check www.kevintitzer.com and know what I’m talking about. David Hobizal, while being one of my favorite kit kickers on the planet (see “Panic In Detroit”), is also a noted graphic designer. Rumor has that his video for the track “Mind Is Not Brain” will somehow and in some way include bears. I like bears.

Panic In Detroit will also play a part in the Braid reunion tour. They will hold the opening slot on the tour for two weeks, many of the shows with Recover.

Dig That.

Kimone will return to DC at month’s end to complete work on their sophomore Silverthree release due out in September. We’ll be putting on a show at the Warehouse Next Door Saturday, May 29th that will feature the mighty Kimone, as well as our current local favs, Two If By Sea and the Paul Michael Group. This will be a night of great music. Please come out and join us.

Oh, how I’ve rambled. Thanks for reading. Check back soon.

E.

04.11.04

Happy Sunday evening to everyone. Happy Easter and Passover for those who celebrate ‘em. Happy everyday and happy all the time for that matter and for what it’s worth. Feel good.

I feel like ass. This ass, my ass, has been repeatedly kicked this week by a spring cold that will not relent. I took it to Macrock. And despite the illing, Harbin and I had a fun filled fantastic time. What made Macrock such a good sensation this year was the great music and the great company we kept. Indie rock is about community after all and we were hanging with some ace Cats. Thanks to Jason from Post 436, Hieu from Ascetic, the mighty Riddle of Steel (swell fellas who totally rocked me), and all of the guys from Threespheres for keeping my “Indie”pendent spirit alive. Thanks also to all of you music lovers who stopped by our corner of the label expo to talk rock. It was great to meet each and every one of you. Good times!

This Friday night, April 16th, at the Warehouse Next Door in Washington DC, Silverthree presents Retisonic with Channels and Namelessnumberheadman. Check the cool poster to the left. These are very limited edition numbered and signed silkscreen prints designed by our friend Nick from Planaria. We’ll have some on hand at the show if you want to pick one up. We’ll also have some free samplers and buttons and such that we’ll be giving away to attendees. So, come on out and celebrate the release of the new Retisonic full length CD with us. “Return To Me” is in stores Tuesday, April 20!

Retisonic will be touring continuously in support of “Return To Me”. Keep checking our tour page for updates. The boys were just added to the Skate & Surf festival in Asbury Park, NJ next Saturday, April 17th.

Also, our fine Radio promotion people, McGathy Promotions, are hosting a very cool Retisonic skate deck giveaway. Why let all the college radio kids have all the fun? You can enter too.

Good luck!
Dig a Pony.

03.22.04

Now, I do love the changing of the seasons that we enjoy here in the mid-atlantic area of the USA exponentially, but it seems that old man winter always overstays his welcome. I say good riddance to all the gray and unattractive that is winter’s too slow death and I bid a heartfelt hello to the beauty and the color of spring. Celebrate!

Better yet, let’s celebrate together with this official announcement – Silverthree proudly welcomes Mock Orange to our label family. Finally. It took a lot of hard work and a great deal of patience to make this truth—more than I could possibly put into words here, but it was well worth the while. The music is the substance after all and Mock Orange make fantastic music. Come July 13th, 2004 (yes, a tad more patience is necessary- sigh), “Mind Is Not Brain” will finally see the street and you can hear for yourself the great music of which I speak.

The release of Retisonic’s “Return To Me” is but a month away—April 20th proper. Silverthree and Retisonic will be hosting a swingin’ shindig at the Warehouse Next Door in DC a few days prior to street date, Friday April 16th. Call it a record release party or what you will, I’m calling it a great rock n’ roll show. Retisonic will be joined by Channels and namelessnumberheadmen for the event. I’ve heard a bit of the nameless ones and it’s quality stuff. Channels is J.Robbins and Co. Enough said. Please join us for the fun.

Speaking of Mr. J. Robbins, he and Kimone have been commiserating in the recording studio for the last week laying basic tracks for what will become the follow up to Kimone’s epic “Meres of Twilight.” Early rough mixes from the sessions are playing on my stereo now and I can only say “wow.” It sounds big.

Harbin and I will be at MacRock the first weekend in April. Last year was absolute madness. This year, we hope for and expect more of the same, but we promise to be a bit more prepared for it. So, stop by our little booth at the label expo and say hello. We’ll have some free goodies, fun stuff, and cool new music. We’re also pretty pleasant Cats and we like to chat. We hope to see you there.

Peace.

E.

02.29.04

I hope everyone is enjoying this Leap Day 2004. And with all the extra time this extra day provides to you, hopping over to the new Retisonic website is just the thing to do. I do declare this site to be the quintessential of cool. While poking about the site, be sure and click on the funny video clip that features a glimpse of the set for the upcoming video for “K-16”, the first single from Return To Me. My appetite is wet. The full video should be ready very soon.

Speaking of singles, college radio programmers and listeners take note- Return To Me goes to radio on March 9th. We have hopes of heavy rotation. Listeners, demand it! Return To Me deserves it.

Retisonic hits the road on route to SXSW this month. Dates are up. You’ll note that a couple of these dates will be with onelinedrawing and Cardia. Ian and Jake of Cardia will be backing Jonah as ondlinedrawing on his tour through the west in March and the duo will also be performing as Cardia to open several of the dates. It should be very cool. Those dates are up on our tour page as well.

The warming weather and my future garden are demanding my attentions.
Back soon.

E.

02.03.04

This is a public service announcement with guitars.

We at Silverthree are pleased to announce our new exclusive partnership with the Lumberjack Label Group. The good people at Lumberjack will now be responsible for all retail marketing and distribution of Silverthree music throughout the USA and Europe. With Lumberjack on our side, we hope to ensure our music is in record shops everywhere for your eyes and ears to find. This is very good news. Visit their site- www.lumberjack-online.com.

More good news- Cardia can be found in the latest issue of Alternative Press as one of their “100 bands you need to know in 2004”. Smart choice AP. Good friends Forensics made the list too. Also, you will find Jason Farrell of Retisonic and Tim Den of Kimone quoted in the pages of CMJ this month as to their favorite venues to play and witness rock n’ roll. Get out to your favorite newsstand and check it out.

Silverthree will be at the Ottobar in Baltimore, MD this Saturday, February seven, to witness the live debut of J.Robbins’ new musical endeavor, Channels. Now, we have been privy to hear a good bit of music from Channels, and I will tell you this- Mr. Robbins never fails to surprise nor disappoints. It’s amazing stuff. You can learn more about Channels and all else that J. is up to at his new site- www.jrobbins.net. We’ll see you at the show.

Retisonic “Return To Me” available April 20. Mark it down.

Groove.

01.13.04

Here I sit, at this days end, sucking on some Old Speckled Hen. At home, at peace, with the ones I love, wishing you as well.

Someone slipped their tongue (it was Jody). It appears that word has leaked that Silverthree will be releasing the long awaited gem of a record Mind is not Brain by Mock Orange. Well, we do wish this true, the Mock Orange do to, and we’re all doing our best to make it so. However, there is still a bit of dealing to do to get it done. Fingers are crossed and confidence is high. I hope to report to you an official word the next time we visit this script.

Someone jumped the gun (it was me). April 20th is now the official release date for Retisonic’s Return to Me, their hotly anticipated follow up to the magnificent Lean Beat EP. It’s well worth the wait. This record is why they put the repeat button on your CD player. We’re very excited to bring it to you.

Cardia will be playing at Fletchers in our sister city of Baltimore with Josh Rouse this Saturday, January 17th. Silverthree will be making the trip and we hope to see you there. Set time is 9pm.

New York will see Cardia and Retisonic together at the Knitting Factory on January 28th. Check our tour pages for more live dates.

Speaking of Cardia, look what Harbin and Jody found during their recent trip to London:

Janet, J., and George were there, too:

Harbin and Jody spend New Year's Eve with the Windsors (well, not with the Windsors--just drinking outside their house)

More soon.
Happy birthday June.
